we've been back up a year and aside from the initial wave of nostalgia and reconnections there hasn't been too much going on! people trickle in and it's great to hear from them but I'm not expecting us to get active or anything. just nice to have our corner of the internet back

I really miss forums as the main internet gathering place. social media has too many real people and sites like reddit have too many fake people. forums are nice because we're all usually real but also get to create an identity not tied to our real life, and those identities we create are more than just a username above a comment that sometimes get glanced at. every post has our avatar, signature, post color, smilies we like to use, etc. it adds up to a better community experience

i was talking about it with my bf today and like, really, i despise social media i use it because i feel like i have to, to get my name out to eventually make money from creative pursuits but its not, it makes corporations money while i work for free and starve myself

im tired of my **** getting instantly taken down/blocked/copyright claimed/warned because they rely entirely on poorly-made algorithims to do their jobs instead of doing any actual work. i got a copyright claim against a brand new song i made today. the song it was claimed against isn't even THE SAME GENRE LOL

Sending a Message

Type your message in the text input field and click the Send button (with the paper plane icon) to post it. You can also use the following keyboard shortcuts:

Messages Display Order

Latest messages are displayed at the bottom while older messages are displayed at the top.

Message Length

Messages have a maximum length of 500 characters. If your message exceeds this length, you will be prompted to shorten it before sending.

Viewing Older and Newer Messages

Scroll to the top to view older messages, or to the bottom to view newer ones. These actions trigger on-demand requests, so they won't be affected by the polling frequency discussed below.

Message Updates

New messages are fetched automatically based on a polling frequency of 30 seconds and will appear shortly thereafter.

Flood Protection

To avoid spamming, you must wait 5 seconds before sending another message. Please be patient!

User Permissions

You may need to log in to view and/or send messages. Admins may have configured which usergroups can view and send messages.

Shoutbox Etiquette

Be respectful and follow the community rules. Inappropriate behavior may result in a warning or ban.

Pruning Old Messages

Messages older than 365 day(s) will be automatically deleted to keep the Shoutbox clean, organized, and free from clutter.

Resizing the Message Input

The Message input automatically grows as you type. But you can also manually resize the message input box vertically to fit your needs. Simply drag the bottom-right corner of the input area to expand or shrink the box. This allows you to type longer messages more comfortably.
